Women in Law
The Women in Law committee is a dynamic group. The committee meets regularly to assess and address issues of particular interest or concern to Wellington women lawyers.  The committee aims to celebrate and support women in law.

Seminars on topics as diverse as managing work-life balance and superannuation have been organised in 2009.   The annual Shirley Smith Address was presented by the Chief Justice, Rt Hon Dame Sian Elias.  Her insightful comment initiated substantial debate on criminal justice.  The committee is well underway with its planning for the 2010 Shirley Smith Address.  Watch this space for details - the committee is very excited to have a distinguished person to present the 2010 address.  All practitioners are welcome at these seminars and they attract a diverse audience.

Suggestions as to seminar topics, or activities (and assistance!) are gladly received.  New committee members are very welcome.  We meet on the last Friday of the month at the NZLS rooms in Waring Taylor Street, at 1pm.

The committee liaises with the Wellington Women's Lawyers Association and the Women's Consultative Group (of the NZLS) as appropriate.

The committee is planning an evening panel discussion for early in the New Year on the role/tasks of being a director.  Further details will be posted.
